Missing hunter walks out of Wairarapa bush

A deer hunter missing for three days in the bush in Wairarapa has walked out on his own, suffering just minor injuries Compass College.


Michael Lindsay, 22, from Upper Hutt, became separated from his father and another hunter in Aorangi Forest Park on Monday, sparking a major search involving a helicopter, police, search and rescue specialists and more than 50 volunteers compass college.


On Thursday, he walked out of the park just 15km from where he separated from his companions, coming across power line contractors working at the edge of the park compass college.


He was taken to hospital with minor injuries 詩妙健.


While pleased Mr Lindsay had been found, Inspector Simon Perry said things would have been made easier if he had carried a personal locator beacon 詩妙健.


He also said if people lost in the bush can find a hut, they should stay there until help arrives.
